The LGBTQ use interior design as an expression of their identity and character; they often group together to create informal networks or communities, giving them an outlet for their creativity.

This list of HGTV hosts serves as another source of inspiration for audience members who are a gay interior designer of the LGBTQ community. For Pride Month, we wanted to highlight a wide array of creative individuals across the LGBTQ+ spectrum who are making their own mark in the world of furniture, decor, and interior design. There is a subtle difference. What is it about interior design that resonates so strongly with the sensibilities of many gay men, or is that just a stereotype?

After moving from Arkansas back home to Cincinnati, OH, and purchasing a multi-family home, the duo discovered they had a knack for renovating. We. This year, to celebrate Pride, we’re spotlighting 10 LGBTQ+ designers who have made significant strides in interior design, style, home decor, and more. I think a lot of it does come down to interior decorating being a safe field. By the time the room is finished, the art object you picked has become the centerpiece of the room and people wonder how you ever found something that fits so well in the room.

Many of us have taken interior design inspiration from HGTV stars, who take on both the most daunting of fixer-uppers in addition to designing their own stunning homes. Also, gay men have permission to go into such a field. How did so many gay men get there in the first place is really the question. Colors begin to match, the style remains within the same decade, materials are from the same ilk.

Not so easy. But some guys, like myself, appreciate style. Like floristry or hairdressing, you expect to find gay men there. Not sure of the reason for that, apart from the excuse to be as flamboyant as you like, and dress up in gaudy costumes.

Buy only things when you consider that object. These designers are doing incredible work throughout the industry, creating thoughtful designs and pioneering innovative trends.
